My life’s goal and purpose is to be a hope-carrier, and that is one of the greatest values I bring to my counseling practice. The challenges and hardships that we inevitably face as we move through life can steal our joy, our hope, and our peace. Those hardships can cause us to lose our way, our sense of identity and purpose, and yet there is hope! I believe that one of the most courageous decisions a person can make when finding him/herself stuck is to choose to seek counsel from someone that can walk alongside, give a fresh perspective, and share strength and hope to keep moving forward.
Every person has infinite value and worth, and because of that truth, my heart’s desire is to truly understand the hurt and woundedness behind every struggle, every emotional battle, and every misunderstood choice or behavior that is troubling each client with whom I work. I provide a non-judgmental, caring, respectful, and warm environment where the goal is to see movement, growth, and healing for each client. As a client, you are provided an opportunity to recognize how life experiences and ways of thinking have created obstacles that you have the power to overcome.
I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Evangel University and a Master of Science in Clinical Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington. I have been counseling for 25+ years and am so grateful to get to collaborate with those who are struggling in order to help them find hope, healing, and freedom for themselves and their relationships. I have experience in psychiatric inpatient settings, group therapy, and private practice working with individuals, families, and couples. I utilize therapeutic methods that come from a wide variety of evidence-based psychotherapy based on the needs of each client. My approach is client-centered, strength-based, and goal-oriented. My training includes EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy DBT), and Gottman Levels 1 and 2 Method for Couples Therapy.
I work with adults, couples, and families that struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, grief, relationship issues, life transitions, parenting, and addiction. I incorporate a biblical perspective when desired by my clients but will respect and honor each client’s personal belief system.
I have been married for 29 years and have three adult children. Our family has, along with every other human on earth, experienced challenges and pain as we have traveled this road together. But we have found that with determination and grit and the willingness to ask for help, we can overcome, grow, and heal together. We have also found it to be true that “life is hard, but God is good”, and there is always hope for healing and freedom in our lives.
