Michelle Fitzhugh, MA, EMDR, LPC-S
Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor / Executive Director
I specialize in treating complicated and complex Trauma and PTSD, Partner Betrayal Trauma, OCD, Codependency, Anxiety, Depression and Bipolar Disorder. I am trained in Brainspotting and an EMDRIA trained Level II Certified EMDR therapist. I utilize both modalities as well as Psychodrama and Experiential therapies in treating trauma, PTSD and phobias while also helping my clients overcome negative self-beliefs, manage their pain and enhance performance in a variety of areas.
I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP) and Family Systems trained therapist. I utilize EMDR, Brainspotting, Psychodrama, EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), IFS (Internal Family Systems), Exposure Therapy, CBT and DBT, Mindfulness and Attachment-Focused Therapy as well as other experiential therapies to help my clients walk through traumatic life experiences towards freedom and healing. I am also trained in Neurofeedback and offer neurofeedback services for a multitude of issues including, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, attention deficits, behavior disorders, various sleep disorders, headaches and migraines, PMS, and emotional disorders.
I primarily focus on intensive work in order to achieve the desired goals of clients in a much shorter timeframe. The Intensive/Workshop format allows clients to go much deeper and move more quickly to the places where healing is needed. Four day intensives can be equivalent to 6 months – 1 year of weekly/hourly therapy often with much greater results.
I am a LPC Supervisor and I am excited to work with LPC Associates and Students as they move towards licensure. In the beginning of my career I was a teacher and passion for teaching and mentoring is still an important part of who I am. I love working with new therapists, helping them develop their skills and joining them in growing their confidence. It is my heart to see other therapists become the healers they are called to be as they walk alongside their clients in the therapeutic process.
I have been married for over 28 years and have an adult son and an adult daughter with special needs. Through God’s incredible grace, we have created a beautiful blended family and have experienced the glory of His goodness! My life experiences and perseverance through the storms of life have given me unique insight and the ability to empathize with my clients in a variety of difficult circumstances. My desire is to be a trusted counselor who meets people at their point of greatest need with grace and understanding in a non-judgmental space that brings comfort and peace for the journey!
