“You know, sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of…bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it.”
— Benjamin Mee, We Bought a Zoo
Healing takes courage. It means stepping out, reaching out, and moving beyond our comfort zones to better understand ourselves and the patterns that shape us. In our work together, we’ll set meaningful goals to address challenges, cultivate resilience, and embrace positive change. I specialize in children, adults, and families navigating anxiety, depression, life transition, blended family dynamics, trauma, PTSD, chronic illness, and the complexities of parenthood. I pull from a variety of modalities including EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention), IFS (Internal Family Systems), CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy), Attached-Based Therapy, Experiential Therapy, and more. My approach focuses on helping both individuals and families recognize triggers, heal from the past, improve emotional regulation, and establish healthy routines. I hold two graduate degrees: a Master’s in Crisis Response & Trauma Counseling and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, both from Liberty University. I am EMDR-trained and a TBRI® Practitioner, integrating evidence-based practices with a relational and compassionate approach.
Outside the therapy room, I’m a law enforcement wife and stepmom – roles that have given me a deep understanding of family systems, blended family dynamics, and the unique challenges faced by first responder families. As a stepmom, I understand firsthand the complexities of navigating two households and the emotional layers that come with blending families. This experience has inspired my passion for helping families build connection and healing through structure, felt-safety, and self-regulation. I take a strong parent-involvement approach that emphasizes connection and attachment repair.
My goal is for you to feel empathy, compassion, and genuine support as you step into my office where healing feels both safe and possible.
I am supervised by Michelle Fitzhugh, MA, LPC-S, EMDR, and see clients ages 8+ both in-person and virtually. I also offer individual and parent intensives, parent workshops, and TBRI® Caregiver Trainings for families and organizations.
