Life can be complicated and stressful! You may feel overwhelmed by the events in your life and unsure about how to take the next steps towards finding solutions for change that can bring peace and stability. Seeking counsel takes strength and courage and making the decision to move forward is often the beginning of the journey toward freedom. It is my desire to walk alongside you in this process!
I am dedicated to helping others find healing and empowering them to overcome personal obstacles and improve their lives while strengthening their identity and understanding of who they were created to be. I am passionate about helping individuals, couples and families understand and appreciate themselves and each other in ways that develop stronger bonds and healthy, more fulfilling relationships. Because of my personal experiences, I work well with blended families and their unique challenges. I am excited to see all marriages move beyond surviving towards thriving as they make positive changes, regain momentum and find HOPE.
Clients find themselves heard, accepted, and at ease in an environment that gives them the ability to face the problems that led them to seek counseling without feeling judgment or criticism. Counseling is an amazing journey and collaborative process where I partner with my clients to determine their goals and find ways to achieve them.
I utilize a variety of evidence-based psychotherapy techniques as well as incorporating a biblical perspective when desired by my clients, as I strive to honor and respect them regardless of their personal belief system. I primarily use the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) psychotherapy models as well as a Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) approach. As an EMDR trained therapist I help clients overcome negative self-beliefs, fears, phobias, and traumatic life events as well as manage pain and performance enhancement.
I am a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas. I am also a Level II Certified EMDR therapist. I have been working with children, teens, adults, couples and families for over 19 years in the counseling setting. I have been married for 23 years and have an adult son and a teenage daughter with special needs. Through God’s incredible grace, we have created a beautiful blended family and have experienced the glory of His goodness! My life experiences and perseverance through the storms have given me unique insight and the ability to empathize with my clients in a variety of difficult circumstances.
