Licensed Professional Counselor

There are times in each life when difficulties arise and unexpected life changes leave feelings of hurt, stress, grief, anxiety, depression, and more. Perhaps, you find yourself experiencing and living out past hurts that have never been processed. This pain can play out in one’s life in subtle and not so subtle ways. Counseling is a powerful tool that can help you understand, cope, and move forward in ways that are productive, purposeful, and meaningful. Seeking counsel is a brave and powerful choice. It brings great comfort knowing that you are absolutely welcomed as you are into the process of counseling. You do not have to walk through your experiences alone. I have a great desire to help you understand, cope, and productively move through struggles while finding resolution and hope along the way.

As a Professional Counselor, it is a privilege to walk alongside you in this process. I facilitate and embrace change in an atmosphere of collaboration, supportiveness, genuineness, empathy, encouragement, and hope. I understand an effective therapeutic relationship is based upon respect and trust. I will work collaboratively with you to develop goals and plans that are attainable, productive, and worthwhile. An effective counseling relationship will allow you to move towards personal growth through insight, encouragement, and action. Counseling that is grounded in evidence-based psychotherapy techniques is fundamental in fostering a healthy personal belief system, life patterns, balance, freedom, and healing.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Effective therapy helps clients overcome negative self- beliefs, fears, phobias, traumatic life events, as well as enhance performance at school and or work. EMDR (Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a researched and proven model I utilize with clients of all ages as they process trauma(s). I am an EMDRIA trained Level ll Certified EMDR therapist and a Certified EMDR Child and Adolescent Specialist. I have specialty training in EMDR Integrative Attachment Trauma Protocol as well Complimented Grief Treatment training. I am also a Clinical Anxiety Specialist for Adults/Adolescents/Children. In addition, I offer parent, child, and educator support as a Positive Discipline Parent Educator and Positive Discipline Classroom Educator. I am a Gottman Level ll trained marriage therapist and SYMBIS Premarital Facilitator. Additional trainings include Play Therapy and Sand Tray Therapy.

I offer anxiety, parenting, and educator psychoeducational workshops and process groups. In-home parenting and family sessions, as well as school visits are offered. Counseling includes, but is not limited to, work in the areas of trauma, anxiety, depression, parenting, co-parenting, family relations, discipline issues, depression, anger, grief, life transitions, pre-marital, educational concerns, elder care and a variety of other areas. I hold a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling and a Master’s Degree in Education. Prior to private practice counseling, I worked with children and families 32 years as an educator.

A new addition to my therapy practice is Cooper! Cooper is a kindhearted and intelligent Goldendoodle dog. He is an Advanced Level trained therapy dog and has earned the Canine Good Citizenship title. With client consent, Cooper joins adults, adolescents, children and families in counseling sessions. He provides great comfort and support when incorporated into the therapy process!

I have been blessed in a marriage of 30 plus years and have two young adult children. Our family has been positively touched by counseling. Through counseling, we experienced heart felt support, guidance, and encouragement. What joy it has been to experience victories alongside a qualified and compassionate counselor. As a counselor myself, I too have a heart for helping and a desire to foster hope in those struggling through life situations. I am truly amazed at how change and healing is not only possible…it can be productive, powerful, and remarkable!
